According to officials aware of the development, the Noida authority announced on Monday that it will not accept the updated construction maps for the residential projects in sectors 96, 97, 98, 113, and 117 owned by the real estate company Unitech Group until it has paid off all of its outstanding debts to the authority.

“We have previously told the Supreme Court, which is considering a plea from homebuyers, in our reply that the board or the realtor must pay around ₹10,000 crore in dues before the Noida authority can approve the development blueprints of Unitech. According to Ravinder Prasad Gupta, chief legal advisor of the Noida authority, “We have also asked the court to allow the realtor to return the undeveloped land to the authority if they are unable to pay the dues. Unitech has large tracts of land in sectors 96, 97, and 98 on which it has not started any construction as of yet.”

Refusal to delay stalled projects

The rejection will make these projects much more delayed and worsen the plight of thousands of homeowners who have been waiting more than ten years to receive their apartments.
