After putting the Amitabh Kant committee’s recommendations on legacy blocked projects into practice, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) completed the registers of 1,366 units across 16 housing projects in March 2024, according to officials with knowledge of the situation.
They claimed that in order to grant ownership rights to almost 4,500 homeowners in these projects, the Authority has also written to the promoters of 28 further projects, requesting that they deposit 25% of their total dues. By implementing the Amitabh Kant committee’s recommendations on stalled projects, the Authority has cleared the way for the registration of 15,000 apartments in Greater Noida spread among 94 projects.
Currently, builders have deposited 25% of the entire dues for 16 projects, and approximately Rs 73 crore of the outstanding payment has been received. The registration process for the apartments in these projects has already begun, and as of March 2024, around 1,366 apartments have been registered. A top Greater Noida Authority official informed Moneycontrol that for 71 of the 78 remaining projects, the builders have promised to deposit 25% of the total in April, from which almost Rs 715 crore will be paid.
